The Luna Bare Manicure

100% natural manicures are IN! Crazy thick nails are out, elaborate additions are out, slimline sheer polishes are in, natural shaping is in, impeccable clean nails (‘clean manicure’) and glowing skin are in.

It seems to me that nail trends change faster than fashion, depending on what the nail company has developed and want to produce to stay relevant, create content for social media and to sell products.

I’m stunned by the level of fast-moving innovation this industry has to offer – who would have thought that the things you use to protect the ends of your fingers (and most people use for a tool, to some degree) would be dressed up in so many ways!

However, underneath it all is real nail care. I take the greatest pride in hygiene, health and using high-quality products so that your natural nails are happy and there are a few ways to do this including:

  • traditional manicures (what the January 2024 trends are calling the ‘old money manicure’) which add moisture, improve circulation and lymphatic drainage, and which focus on the natural length of the nail.
  • good diet and nutrition and getting the correct diet for your life stage
  • making sure you take good care of your nails and hands at home, keeping chemicals away from them, hydrating the nails with hand creams and applying vitamin-infused oils to cuticles
  • using the correct hygiene steps to avoid nail health issues with sanitisation and the correct intervals for gel polish re-application, plus not risking hygiene issues with infills
  • having vitamins and strengtheners applied and trying not to chew, stress or pick at your nails and skin!

I get a lot of clients who suffer from changing hormones, or who want to grow their nails. Gel Polish and BIAB both help to support the nail while it’s growing but also it’s good to treate the nail itself directly underneath that, or to add a little extra strength for those who want to have a hand and nail treatment and perhaps a regular nail polish with a vitamin, strength or growth agent underneath and so I’ve added a new mani to my list, the Luna Bare Manicure.

If you want to support your nail growth, treat flaky, thinner or weak nails, or just add an extra level of nurture to your hands, especially in winter, then go for a Luna Bare Manicure.
